As Events Officer, I aim to create a dynamic, inclusive space for students of various academic backgrounds to explore ethical issues in healthcare. As a medical student passionate about the legal and ethical challenges regarding patient rights and medical innovation, I am eager to bring these conversations to life through well-organised, engaging events.

I will collaborate with the team to design events in which our members feel empowered to challenge complex topics, such as patient autonomy and the implications of emerging technologies. This includes organising guest-speaker panels and structured debates, along with interactive case studies and small-group seminars that will equip members with strong analytical skills and ethical reasoning.

Me experience on the RUMS Operations and Finance Subcommittee has given me valuable skills in event coordination, sponsorship, and networking. I will use these to secure knowledgable speakers and partners, enhancing visibility and the impact of our events both on campus and across London universities, allowing members to network and exchange diverse perspectives.

As Events Officer, I am committed to improving communications and outreach, ensuring events are accessible, engaging, and relevant. I look forward to working with the team to inspire our members to take part in the conversation, think critically, and develop a strong foundation in bioethics and medical law.

Thank you!

Eishwar Ravichandran

Hello I’m Eishwar and I am running to be your BMLSoc events officer!

As a medical student, Bioethics is really important to me, especially with the implications of emerging treatments and potential inequities they bring. I have really enjoyed the events I have attended so far and I am eager to contribute by planning more thought-provoking and engaging events this year.

I have experience running events from my time in high school, as the President of the Biology Club. Thus, I have the organisational skills to plan and execute fun and intellectually stimulating activities for us this year. Being a serial yapper, I love debate and discussions, and would plan more of these throughout the academic year.

Collaboration is a common objective for the committee and I will aim to organise more inter-society events this year - Bioethics is an interdisciplinary field and there is so much we can do with others! Through this, we can bring in fresh ideas, more opportunities and a wider range of perspectives to our events.

I also appreciate the importance of Inclusivity, given that our club revolves around complex and controversial topics. I am dedicated to ensuring that our events are a respectful space, where differing voices are respected and valued. My goal is to create an environment that supports healthy, constructive discussion, allowing us to engage in meaningful conversation.

Vote for me as your Events officer in 2024 for a more active, wholesome and engaging society!
