Sunny Ren

Hi! I'm a final year geography with social data science student, and I'm excited to be running for lusl team captain. Being part of the lusl team in uclwb last year was the highlight of my uni experience, so I’d love the chance to give back to this amazing community <33

If elected, I'll make sure all the essentials - like equipment rotations, game paperwork, and scheduling - are handled smoothly, so we can focus on enjoying our games. I’d also be keen to organise team dinners to bring us together off the court - maybe grabbing pizzas after Sunday games (shoutout to Shan!) or getting some drinks if that's the vibe! We are beyond lucky to have Izzy as our coach this year, and I will do my best to support her. Most importantly, I want to be someone everyone feels comfortable reaching out to. Let’s make this year unforgettable together! :)

Jane Yin

Hi, I’m Jane, a fourth-year Physics student. This is also my fourth year with UCLWB. Over these years, I’ve held various committee roles, including as LUSL captain two years ago, which gave me a solid understanding of the team's responsibilities and dynamics.

The LUSL team is unique, bringing together players of all skill levels—from people who have never played basketball before to those who are quite good at it. As captain, I believe it's essential to foster unity within this diverse group and create an environment where every player feels encouraged, supported, and valued, both on and off the court.

Being a LUSL captain was incredibly rewarding. I saw the team grow with each game, celebrate our victories, and build lasting friendships. I would be thrilled to take on this role again, bringing my experience and passion to make this another memorable and successful year for our team!

Vanessa Lee

After our first three matches, I’m excited to bring the team together and make the most out of it. While we haven’t won yet, just being able to play with such a great team is already a win for me. I look forward to every session and social event because being part of LUSL and UCLWB has made basketball even more meaningful. I’m happy to step up and support the team when needed, especially by bringing positive energy.

I'm always looking to improve and do my best to lead by example, while encouraging everyone to do the same. We’ve all got so much potential, and I’d love to help us reach it together. I’m excited to put in the work alongside all of you, whether it’s during practice, games, or just supporting each other to get better as a team.

Above all, I want us to feel united and for everyone to know they’re an important part of this team. We’ll face challenges along the way, but I’m confident that, together, we can overcome them and grow stronger. Let’s make this a year we’ll all be proud of, and I’m sure we’ll have many wins ahead, both on and off the court!

Doris Mbakwe

I believe that I'm capable as a leader and able to connect the team together. I value the team's opinion and will have their best interests in mind always. I've had leadership positions before; in secondary school, I was the sport captain. I was put in charge of organising sports days and organising sports events; I even completed a sports leadership course where I organise my own sports event.

I've always been involved with the basketball community and the sport has been my passion for a while. I believe that we should always find ways we can improve as athletes whilst also being proud of our achievements!

I will ensure that the team's morale is boosted and that through win or loss, we will be a close knit team.
