Welcome to RUMS Rugby , the rugby union team of the Royal Free, University College, and Middlesex Medical Students' Society and UCL's highest ranked rugby club. We welcome students from all courses at University College London. We are an active and inclusive club and welcome players of all skills levels.
As a TeamUCL High Performance Club we have access to a physio, dietician and biweekly S&C sessions with UCL's qualified fitness coach. We train weekly at Regent's Park, a short walk from halls and main campus, with sessions run by our level 3 coach.
We currently have three teams that compete in various competitions with two weekly BUCS teams and a pre-clinical team that play exhibition games. Each year, we participate in the BUCS league and cup and the United Hospitals Cup, the oldest rugby competition in the world. Our First XV compete in BUCS South-Eastern 2 and the national BUCS cup, playing team from England, Scotland and Wales. Our Second XV, The Boars, compete in BUCS South-Eastern 3. We also attend numerous 7s competitions either end of the 15s season.
Our undergraduate/preclinical exhibition team plays a yearly fixture against alumni as well as the Bill Smiths memorial cup, attracting crowds of hundreds to watch.
We have had recent success in the UH cup, winning in 2018 and 2015, making the final in 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2024 as well as being the current champions of UH 7s.
