Scrolling through a bunch of societies? Let us save you time, here’s our elevator pitch:
OUR MISSION:
We are a career-focused society that seeks to introduce the student body to career paths within the political risk, intelligence, and financial industries with a focus on bringing practical insights straight from industry experts to our members.
How do we do this?
Through our events and content such as podcast series, panel discussions, and skills workshops (OSINT!). Additionally, we’re always on the lookout for security or risk-related conferences happening in London/online that we can attend together as a society.
Finding your interest piqued after a couple of events with us? We welcome you to join us in compiling the PRIS Annual Risk Report 2023 or to come along to a Political Risk Speedrun and put your analytical skills to the test.
Ready to meet the wider political risk/ intelligence circle beyond UCL? We host networking socials that give students a chance to connect with like-minded individuals from political risk/intelligence societies and student-led political risk consultancies across London!
SCOPE: How do we define political risk?
We adopt an all-encompassing definition of political risk, ranging from cyberwarfare to climate change to criminal syndicates, and offer exposure to how such risks manifest for organizations in a range of sectors including finance, government, and NGOs.
ABOUT YOU: Not a politics student? No problem.
We welcome students from a number of different disciplines, including but not limited to, economics, law, political science, crime sciences, development studies, and region-specific studies – feel free to drop us email/ DM if you’re unsure how degree connects to the industry, we would love to help you think through potential pathways. And of course, it goes without saying that POSTGRADS are welcome here!
THE BOTTOMLINE: Why should you join?
Our primary objective is to help students acquaint themselves with the various paths into the industry so that we can make informed decisions about our future. Starting out after college can be challenging for the best of us, especially when one wants to break into a niche, relatively elusive industry like political risk and intelligence — so we’re here to help:)
