At UCL Francophone Society, we are dedicated to helping students discover Francophone culture while providing a platform for French and non-French speakers to connect.
We organize a wide range of activities:
- French Classes: We offer French classes for all levels—beginners, intermediate, and advanced. Classes are held twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, making it a fun way to improve your language skills and meet fellow Francophiles! Our approach focuses on socializing with Francophone speakers, rather than strict formal learning. Our educational team, made up of passionate students, is here to share both language skills and Francophone culture in a friendly environment. A Social & Academic membership is all you need to join.
- Talks: We host expert-led talks on a variety of topics including politics, business, sports, and culture. In collaboration with other societies, we also provide access to a wider range of conferences.
- Socials/Parties: Our social events include Pub Crawls at IOE and The Court, as well as nightclub events at top venues. We often collaborate with other societies to bring you even more fun experiences. Discounts for these events are available with a Social membership.
- Sports Events: Last year, we launched our football team, which competes in 7-a-side matches against other London teams. This year, we aim to win our derby against the Spanish Society and the tournament between French Societies of London Universities. Trials will be held on September 26 (12–1 pm) at Coram’s Fields. We're also introducing our Runclub this year, with weekly running sessions for all fitness levels.
- Le Journal: Our online Francophone publication, Le Journal, is open to all writers and readers. Choose a topic you’re passionate about, write an article, and we’ll publish it! It’s a great way to showcase your writing skills, build your portfolio, and contribute to the Francophone community.
