We are RUMSFC, the UCL Football Club for medical students and more. Although traditionally a Medic Club, we welcome players from all courses with a united love for the beautiful game. Whether you've never kicked a ball before, or you could’ve gone pro but had a knee injury, or you're the next Erling Haaland… RUMSFC is the club for you.
After our outstanding club-wide accomplishments in 22/23, we were awarded UCL RUMS Club of the Year.
We have teams catering to all abilities – our 1s offer a high standard of football, playing in BUCS and also the top LUSL league alongside UCL 1s, a match that we look forward to all year, having drawn with them in our near undefeated season in 24/25, after previously beating them convincingly the 2 years prior to this. Every year we compete against our age old rivals GKT (King’s Medics) in our varsity fixture at the end of March, providing you with a chance to play in front of a large crowd. The 1st team also boast the luxury to play in the second oldest footballing competition in the world: the United Hospitals Cup (secondly only to the FA Cup)! Our 2s and 3s play in competitive Wednesday and Saturday LUSL leagues – with the 2s winning back to back promotions in both leagues in 23/24 and 24/25. The 3s also making history by going INVINCIBLE in 22/23; our 4s play both competitively on Wednesdays and Sundays. We also host weekly Monday Night Football, where you can showcase your skills at 5 a side on the top pitches or have a more relaxed session with your mates and is a great opportunity to meet other members of the club.
Alongside this, we host weekly socials, including the highly anticipated 'SportsNight' at Mully's Basement Bar on Gower Street every Wednesday evening (KO: 7.30pm - Don't be late!), as well as plenty of other big events throughout the year, including RUMS Sports Ball and UH Curry with a sports team from another medical school in London, which is one of the most enjoyable nights of the year. There are TWO football tours in the year, where members get a chance to visit the exotic and cultural wonders of the UK and abroad, as well as the opportunity to play in the exclusive NAMS Medical Schools’ Football Tournament, which we've never lost to date.
At RUMSFC we tailor our services specifically to the medical school curriculum by offering regular tutorials (run by our senior years and alumni), learning resources, exam practice and education opportunities for its members to guide them throughout their academic journey.
As a club we also aim to do more. We are the largest fundraising club in RUMS for ‘Movember’ supporting Men’s Mental Health Charities. In 2025, we raised £2190 for Movember, almost surpassing our record total of £2683 in 2022, showing why we are one of the most charitable clubs in UCL. We also support the local community by volunteering weekly with our partnered charity Step Football at the Royal Free Hospital, a wonderful organisation which aims to make the beautiful game accessible to all.
