Academic Reps do one of the most important jobs in the Union: They represent your academic interests and ensure students have a voice in enhancing their education.
For Term Two, we are showcasing our Academic Reps through our 'Academic Rep in focus' weekly segment. You can contact your Academic Rep using our 'Find Your Rep page'.
Academic Rep in Focus: Rohan
Rohan is a Lead Department Rep and first year MEng Mechanical Engineering student within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Here's what Rohan got up to in Term One:
“Rohan is a confident and personable mechanical engineering student with a strong aptitude for leadership. He swiftly established himself within the Union by accruing the highest number of votes in the academic representative election for his cohort. Shortly after, he was finalised as the Lead Departmental Representative for Mechanical Engineering. He is responsible for playing a leadership role in the progression of the programme and collaborates with staff to address all student raised issues. Beyond this, he is actively working to improve student wellbeing by organising departmental socials based on observations from student interactions. His vision is ensuring all students have an enjoyable, enriching and equitable experience.”

“Beyond building strong connections with my entire cohort, the most rewarding aspect of being the Lead Departmental Representative is collaborating alongside the department to drive meaningful, behind-the-scenes improvements to enhance everyone’s experience!”

We'd like to thank Rohan for all of their hard work so far this academic year!
