Why does enterprise matter?
Often, when people use the term entrepreneurial skills or are talking about why enterprise is important, they are alluding to abilities like being adaptable, creative, confident, self-starter. Being highly competent in these areas will help you in your career beyond UCL but - while you're here - why do these things matter?
Adaptable: Things change right? You don't get the grade you wanted? You don't get the project title you had your heart set on. Being adaptable is such a key student life skill.
Creative: This might feel kind of obvious but creativity is at the very centre of writing essays! You are creating a story - albeit in an academic or discipline-specific way - and flexing your creative skills is going to really help your grades.
Confidence: This will matter in class presentations of course but also advocating for yourself in group work or with your personal tutor when you're asking for something. Or what about making sure your supervisor agrees to your dissertation topic? Being confident may also help you bounce-back from disappointments or empower you to be creative.
Self-starter: This is so important in your days as a student. Don't wait for something to come to you or miss out on something because you were waiting for something else to happen. be a student leader! Lead a class project! Start that business-for-good!
