Know Your Rights - Private Renters workshop

Moving into private rented accommodation for the first time? Whether you've recently left halls, chosen to rent privately, or just want to understand your rights, this online workshop will help you feel more confident about renting in London. Delivered by your Students' Union Advice Service, we'll cover the practical steps to take when moving in, your rights and responsibilities as a tenant, and some of the most important changes introduced by the Renters' Rights Act.

Using real-life student scenarios, we'll explain common issues including deposits, repairs, sharing a house with others, leaving a tenancy, and what to do if your landlord asks you to move out. The session is aimed at students renting privately and is not focused on UCL halls or finding accommodation.

The workshop includes a 30-minute presentation followed by plenty of time for questions and answers with our Advisors. You're welcome to ask questions during the session, and you can also submit questions in advance when you sign up. All those signed up will receive a follow-up email with useful resources and information after the event.
