Most students feel like they should have their future figured out - but the truth is, very few people actually do. In this honest and relatable keynote, Verna shares how she went from studying civil engineering, to working in tech, to unexpectedly building a career around food, culture and storytelling.

What began as a side interest - including wrapping dumplings every weekend - slowly grew into a platform that led to a cookbook, media work and industry recognition. Along the way, Verna realised that the moments that shape your direction don’t always feel important at the time. Part‑time jobs, hobbies, small opportunities and everyday experiences can quietly build skills, confidence and perspective without you noticing.

This session will help you see the value in the things you’re already doing, even if they don’t feel “strategic”. If you’ve ever felt unsure about your direction, this keynote offers a refreshing way to think about your path - less about having a perfect plan, and more about staying open, trying things and noticing what you’re naturally good at.

Skill focus: Confidence, Self‑Awareness
