Richard Tang
MSc in Statistics (2006)
Richard began his career at Heidrick & Struggles, a global leader in leadership consulting and executive search, where he built a strong foundation in understanding people and organisations. Since transitioning into in-house human resources in 2012, he has gained over 13 years of HR management experience across industries including advertising, luxury retail, and professional services.
Throughout his career, Richard has specialised in talent acquisition and talent development, helping organisations attract, nurture, and retain exceptional people. Most recently, he served as Human Resources Director at one of the Big Four professional services firms.
He will be able to answer questions regarding Job-hunting strategies in China and essential employability skills building.

Joyce Yu

MA in Linguistics (2018)
Joyce began her career as a recruitment consultant in the executive search industry before joining her current FMCG group as a Human Resources professional. She has gained extensive experience working with both leading global firms and boutique local consultancies, developing a broad understanding of different organisational cultures and talent strategies.
Her recruitment experience spans a wide range of industries, from internet and manufacturing technology to consumer goods and retail - with a particular focus on the FMCG sector. She has also worked across multiple functions, reflecting her adaptable and cross-disciplinary approach to talent acquisition.
Based primarily in Shanghai, Joyce has also led overseas recruitment projects covering Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the United States. As one of the early consultants in China to work on cross-border hiring, she developed valuable insights into global recruitment practices.
In her current role, Joyce is responsible for overseeing end-to-end recruitment for her company’s new international projects, supporting global expansion and building diverse, high-performing teams.
She will be sharing insights on job-hunting strategies in China and building essential employability skills for students preparing to enter the workforce.
In this session, our panellists representing diverse industries will share their experiences, job-hunting stories, and reflections on transitioning from university to the professional world. You’ll gain practical insights into:

- Building essential employability skills
- Understanding recruitment expectations from employers
