Are you free on any of these dates? 👀
We are pleased to be running a new round of volunteering sessions with the British Red Cross at the Hackney Destitution Centre.
The Hackney Destitution Centre provides a safe and welcoming space for people seeking asylum who are experiencing destitution. The centre offers practical support, access to essential items, and opportunities for social connection within a supportive community environment.
Volunteers can sign up for one or more dates. On each day, we will be supporting the running of the centre by:
🎨 Facilitating craft activities
🎲 Organising games and informal social sessions
🤝 Assisting with the general coordination and smooth running of the space
These sessions are designed to foster connection, creativity, and a sense of community for those accessing the service.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
Travel and material costs will be reimbursed. You will volunteer alongside approximately six other students, including a Project Leader who will provide guidance and support throughout the session. This opportunity is open to all UCL students.
