With academic training in global health, medical anthropology and international humanitarian affairs, Dr. James Smith has held roles at LSHTM’s Health in Humanitarian Crises Centre and is affiliated with the Johns Hopkins Center for Humanitarian Health.
His extensive work with Médecins Sans Frontières includes research with their Access Campaign. His commentary, particularly relating to Gaza, has featured on outlets such as LBC and Al Jazeera.
His work focuses on humanitarian ethics, evidence-based response, migration, policing and state violence, and global health governance.
