1: The Great Wargame

GM: Jesse Ashdown(He/Him)

Contact info: Jesse(on discord)

Per ancient traditions, The Many Kingdoms have a contest each year to settle any disputes between them: The Great Wargame. This year, all Kingdoms must compete to obtain a standard from the middle of a mighty forest, and raise it above their kingdom to prove that they are the greatest of all.

This year, a talented artificer from a minor kingdom is aiming to make his kingdom the victor. To this end, he enchanted his Chess set with ancient magic, causing the pieces to come alive.

As a Sentient Chess piece, your goal is to win The Great Wargame, and bring glory to your nation.

Hopefully this... unconventional approach to the competition pays off.

Game system: Slayers

WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE

The Old Frontier was about to be abandoned. Given back to the people who lived and died in generations after the prospectors deemed there nothing worthy here to feed into the fires of industry. Soon, the native people would be free of the greed and opportunism that drove so many new faces into their lands, seeking riches indifferent to the people who lived here.

Whether a Faustian bargain of a desperate prospector, the manifestation of collective greed, or simply dumb luck, scholars would debate the reasons why Hellstone was suddenly discovered. But one thing was certain, its presence renewed interest in the Old Frontier, to the dismay of its inhabitants and the delight of those who had wasted fortunes getting here.

Hellstone was both potent fuel and invaluable alloy. A catalyst and foundation for new industry and technology, for miracles beyond one's wildest dreams. Yet with it came the supernatural, life borne of its unnatural nature and also in response to it, as the land awoke in protest to this unnatural foreign entity now plumbing its depths. Devils began to walk among men, pointing them towards Hellstone for the right price. And soon angels too began to visit, to urge those still pure of heart to turn back the tide of sin.

Amidst all this, who are you? You're just a scum-sucking rogue with half-decent aim, and a need to settle up your next tab at the bar. There's a new bounty on the board, 50'000 dollars for a silver-haired woman atop a horned stallion.

Looks like payday's arrived.

This will be a pretty serious one-shot, will potential for awesome moments and absurd ones alike, provided you're willing to buy in. The rules are simple, but whether or not the game is fun will partially depend on how much you're willing to commit to your cowboy and the setting.

3: The Case of the Reality Broadcast Bludgeoning

GM: Andres Joaquin Rayco Solon(He/Him)

Contact info: mrmcperson (Andres JRS on the discord server)

In the middle of a luxury island reality TV show, one of the contestants is found dead, bludgeoned in the head in the middle of the night. Your friend has been accused of the murder, but you don’t think she did it. It’s up to you as amateur investigators to prove her innocence and find the real killer. There were only a handful of people on the island who could’ve committed the crime.  Was it one of the other contestants? The show runner? Perhaps the unassuming camera op? Find every potential motive, and eliminate potential suspects, until only the truth remains.

The GUMSHOE family of systems are mystery and investigation RPGs that eliminate the idea of missing a clue as a result of a random roll. While BubbleGUMSHOE is typically used to tell teen detective style stories, this one shot focuses more on the amateur detective angle. Your character does not have to literally be a quirky teenage detective (though they can be if you so desire).
