🔬 It's time for GenSoc's Yearly Paid-Internship Panel!
Hear from students who’ve secured competitive, paid research scholarships and studentships — in the UK and internationally! 🌍🧪
This is an opportunity for members to seek advice from successful students on preparing their own internship applications, especially for first- and second-year students. You can join either in person or online.
🎤 Our speakers have been accepted into:
- 🧬 Wellcome Biomedical Vacation Scholarship (BVS)
- 🧬 Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing (Cologne, Germany)
- 🧬 Rockefeller University SURF Program (USA)
- 🧬 UCL Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) Departmental Studentship
- 🧬 UCL GEE Centre for Life's Origins and Evolution (CLOE) Paid Studentship
- 🧬 University of Cambridge British Society for Cell Biology (BSCB) Summer Studentship
🧠What they’ll cover:
- Their academic background and how they spent previous summers
- How they found their internship: timelines, application tips, and challenges
- What they actually worked on during the internship
- Advice they’d give to their first- or second-year selves
- How to make the most of your summer — and your application!
- They’ll also share contact details (LinkedIn, Instagram, email, etc.) if you’d like to follow up afterwards 👀
🗓️ Event Format:
Each panelist will give a short presentation (max 10 minutes) sharing their internship journey, followed by a brief Q&A session (max 5 minutes). After all the presentations, we’ll transition into a casual networking session, where attendees can walk around, chat with speakers one-on-one, and ask more personal or specific questions.
🍪 Snacks and refreshments will be provided during the networking session!
👉 Spaces are limited (we had 100+ students attend last year!), so don’t miss out! This event is open to both Standard and Taster members!
