Book tickets

Come play RPGs with us! Players of all experience levels welcome.

Tickets are free but compulsory, and Standard membership to Sci-Fi and Fantasty Society is required. There are separate tickets for each RPG game, so to learn about each game, and decide which one is the best fit for you, please carefully read the descriptions below, before purchasing your ticket.

1. The Audit of Innsmouth

The year is 1927 and you are an IRS agent sent to investigate Innsmouth, a strange seaside town in Massachusetts. The latest tax reports coming from multiple businesses/people in the area seem to make little sense. You and a few other agents must sort this out and see what’s really going. Surely this will be a completely average auditing experience.

This is a horror one shot inspired by the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Shadow Over Innsmouth”. You do not need to have read the story but there are spoilers in this one shot for it.

Just as a heads up. The system I have made is very basic. There are skills but no abilities. I will explain it completely on the day. If you have any questions you can message me on discord, I’m matthew_7982

GM: Matthew Phillips (he/him)

System: My own system

Players do not need any previous RPG experience

Trigger warnings: NPC death, PC death, organised religion, body horror, alcoholism

Accessibility: Players need to be able to roll dice and read the numbers on them, or use a digital set of dice; I have plain text files available of handouts; my handouts are available in large font sizes; my handouts are in dyslexic friendly font; I make use of the X card or Stoplight safety systems.

2. The Beast of Emmelyn

As rumours of an immortal, man-eating creature emerge in the newly founded free city of Emmelyn, a group of adventurers are sent to quell this threat. Yet what seems to be a simple quest soon reveals a darker, much more sinister plot. With the fate of every individual of Emmelyn at stake, would our hero’s triumph, or will they end up in the bowels of the beast?

Welcoming anyone interested in DnD and history. Should hopefully be beginner friendly.

GM: Hong Yin Bosco Cheng (he/him)

System: DnD 5e

Trigger warnings: kidnapping, NPC death, organised religion, allusions to historical events.

Accessibility: players need to be able to roll dice and read the numbers on them, or use a digital set of dice.

3. Gods in the Dark

Hello everyone! Hades 2 has consumed my being and spat it out a withered, grinning husk. With that on my mind I’ve decided to run a little demigod campaign ala Stray Gods, American Gods, Percy Jackson, and so forth. I’ll be basing it on Blades in the Dark rules, though I will be forging it with custom playbooks premade for this one-shot.

Wakey wakey little chicky. A rap across your knuckles. A lamp flickers above the table in front of you, forming a bright yellow circle in the center of the room that hides more than it reveals, your blinking eyes unable to perceive what lurks in the boundless darkness beyond.

“Don’t play with him Pretender.” A child’s voice, ageless, yet not young sighs. “Oh spider, what do ones like us do but play? Even now, the Great Game is afoot, gods and men alike pieces on the board. Only us, who play even as the clock ticks, can be players.” That voice rebuts it gaily, nasal and burbling with barely concealed mirth.

“I don’t have all day y’know. Got obligations and people waiting, whispers to carry.”  A silvery voice spoken in haste, distracted, not all there. A sniff, than a howling laugh, more beast than man. “a-aa—aaaAHAHAHAHA. A man tries to be bird. A chimp becomes man. A god turns to a mare to sire children. A villain pretends to be hero.”  A cackling voice, all mad, or all sly?

An envelope, brown with age falls in front of you. A wallet, cracked and dry follows. “Where heroes burn bright like candles, fools and jesters roll like dice. A flame may go out, but a dice can always be thrown again."

No RPG experience required! Although this will likely be much more tricksy and than usual campaigns. Think 4 rogues in a trenchcoat. Doesn’t mean we can’t kill someone though. Look forward to playing!

4. The Haunting of Ypsilon-14

During a routine cargo job on a remote asteroid mining base you learn that one of the workers has disappeared.

No blood, no body, no record of the airlock opening. Just gone. And that's not the only unexplainable thing that's been happening at Ypsilon 14... What is the alien material at the heart of the asteroid? What do the weird events around the base have to do with it? Who, if anyone, can be trusted? And can you make it out alive before you also disappear?
