The UCL Sports Business Society is delighted to welcome Carlos Raphael (Rafi) Moersen, Director of Football Operations at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, for an exclusive interview and Q&A.
With over 15 years of experience in professional football, Rafi has built an impressive career spanning football operations, player transactions, commercial strategy and business development across some of the world's most prominent football organisations.
Before joining Tottenham Hotspur in June 2026, Rafi initially spent 4 years at Manchester City Football Club, holding positions including inside Sales Manager, Senior Business Development Manager - Operations, and Senior Sales Strategy and Development Manager. He subsequently progressed to City Football Group, the global organisation overseeing a network of 12 football clubs across five continents. Over five years at City Football Group, Rafi rose from Senior Football Transactions Manager to Head of Football Transactions, before becoming Director of Football Transactions in 2024. This experience gave him exposure to the increasingly complex world of football transactions and operations within a global multi-club organisation.
In June 2026, Rafi took the next step in his career joining Tottenham Hotspur as Director of Football Operations.
During this event, we will explore Rafi's career journey, the business of football transfers and transactions, the complexities of managing operations at elite football clubs, and the growing influence of multi-club ownership models in modern football. We will also discuss the challenges of working behind the scenes at Premier League clubs and the career opportunities available within the football industry.
This session will feature a moderated interview followed by an open audience Q&A, offering students a rare opportunity to hear directly from a senior Premier League executive and ask questions about football operations, recruitment, transfers, commercial strategy and careers in the sports industry.
