Join the UCL SELCS Society for our second talk of the year from the amazing Dr Jann Matlock!

"Fake News’ After the Paris Commune, 1871, or Why Studying Literature Matters Now"

Dr Jann Matlock will here draw on her research on the aftermath of the short-lived utopian Paris Commune of 1871, repressed by Versailles troops with its supporters imprisoned and tried for over the two following years, to reflect on the way moments of crisis, with their propaganda and falsification of the news, show why the work we do as students of literature and critical theory makes possible resistance and instils hope for democratic values.

Please do not hesitate to contact me (Danilo, President of SELCS Society) if you have any questions at all or if there is any way that the event can be more accessible and enjoyable to you!
