Join us for a research sharing session with Paige Mumford, a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UK Dementia Research Institute (UKDRI), UCL, whose work explores the intricate links between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s disease.
Paige’s current research, conducted in the labs of Prof. Selina Wray and Dr. Frances Wiseman, investigates how the chromosome 21-encoded protein DYRK1A affects microglia biology in trisomic iPSC-derived microglia-like cells exposed to oligomeric amyloid-beta, a cellular model of Alzheimer’s disease in Down syndrome.
She completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the UKDRI at UCL, where her research project title was "Preclinical modelling of altered neuroinflammation and interferon hypersensitivity in Alzheimer’s disease–Down syndrome".
Gain insights into the emerging role of DYRK1A and microglial dysfunction in neurodegeneration, key lab techniques in translational neuroscience research, and hear more about Paige's experience in dementia research.
Join us for an engaging session with FREE snacks and networking.
Participants will require a standard membership to attend this event.
