Opportunity: Volunteer Mentor

Broadening Horizons is a mentoring programme for disadvantaged young people aged 10 - 18 in Westminster that Westminster Befriend a Family (WBAF) has been running for two years. We are looking for Mentors, who will work with a young person on a weekly basis for 1-2 hours over a period of six months. Our trained, supervised Mentors are expected to provide emotional, practical and career support to their mentees, helping them to build their aspirations, boosting their confidence and providing additional support with social and educational challenges they might come across.

Opportunity: Family Befriender

Befrienders are carefully matched with families in order to build a trusting relationship that will enable them to take steps to live lives free from the consequences of poverty. The regular calls from a Befriender may involve assisting a family to make contact with other organisations and engage with activities that might prove helpful to them in terms of reducing isolation and increasing engagement, via a positive empowering relationship with the volunteer. The relationship minimum time is 6 months once trained.

Please note that Family Befriender must be at least 23 years old.
