Unfold are reaching communities who face the most exclusion, this is because, although we are open to everyone, 85% of the families we support are single headed households led by a woman, 98% of our service users are from racialised groups, and 60% of our referrals come from other supporting services. Unfold have also expanded and adapted our services to support Asylum Seekers and young people in pupil referral units. Our services of offering weekly one-to-one support from supervised volunteer mentors trained in positive psychology and coaching style techniques, empower young people aged 10 – 25 and mothers with children aged 5+ to get to where they want to be, through achieving our aims of boosting Confidence, building lasting Independence and Connecting mentees with 1 or more organisation. Whether you mentor someone allowing you to gain an understanding of life from a perspective different to your own, or mentor someone reflective of your own identity and experiences, you will learn and develop transferable skills, understanding and approaches for both personal and professional development. You will have fun, laugh, reflect and overcome challenges together, igniting imagination and being inspired by your mentee as you join on their journey to positive change.
