Opportunity: Photographic Collections Cataloguing Volunteer

The National Army Museum is seeking a volunteer to assist the Department of Collections Development and Review staff with cataloguing photograph collections.

The National Army Museum gratefully acknowledges the help of volunteers whose time, energy and skills benefit our work and help us to achieve our mission.

Our relationship with volunteers is one of mutual benefit, responsibility and commitment. Volunteering is also an important part of our access strategy providing another level of access to collections and services.

Volunteering brings educational, developmental and/or social benefits to volunteers and is often an integral and important part of early career development in the sector.

Our aim is to expand the opportunities for volunteering to offer a wide range of roles across the Museum that will require different levels of skills, experience and suitability.


Opportunity: Chelsea History Festival Volunteer

  • Provide a welcoming environment for visitors to the Chelsea History Festival.
  • Help visitors gain a better experience at the Chelsea History Festival
  • Offers volunteers a unique opportunity to play a key role in the festival while gaining experience working with National institutions

Opportunity: Learning Volunteer: Schools and Families

* To assist staff with elements of the administration and delivery of the schools and famiies* programme of sessions in the Museum*s Foyle Centre
* To offer volunteers a unique opportunity to play a key role while gaining experience working with a national museum collection of historic importance


Opportunity: Public Programmes & Tour Guide Volunteer

> Provide a welcoming environment and rewarding learning experience to museum visitors through guided tours and customer support at talks, events and workshops for adults
> Help visitors gain a deeper level of understanding about the themes and issues explored in the Museum*s galleries and public programmes
> To offer volunteers a unique opportunity to play a key role while gaining experience working with a national museum collection of historic importance


Opportunity: Readers Services Volunteer

Working alongside Museum staff to deliver a high standard of customer-focused collections access and readers services in the National Army Museum’s Templer Study Centre.
