If you have access to a telephone, enjoy talking and would like to build friendships with older people, then our Telephone Befriending Volunteer role would be ideal for you.
A Telephone Befriending Volunteer has a weekly 30 minutes phone chats with one or more older people who are at risk of becoming socially isolated or may feel lonely.
Join our Telafriend Volunteer team today and help to uplift the spirits of older people.
We are looking for individual who have good listening skills and enjoy a good phone chat. You will need to be able to show your telephone friend respect, patience, empathy and understanding. This is what we would also expect from you:
• Making time for a 30 minutes call on the same day and time each week.
• A commitment to volunteering with us for a minimum of twelve months.
• Agreeing to our volunteer terms and agreement.
• Being kind and respectful to your telephone friend.
• Letting us know if you or your telephone friend need any support.
