GoSafer.Online CIC
‘We are net gainers from the Valley and Big Tech. The problem is with the word “net.”’ — Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at NYU Stern School of Business
Description
GoSafer.Online's goal is to help families protect themselves from online harms. These range from hacks and scams to online grooming and the psychological effects of AI chatbots.
Our target is vulnerable groups (young, old, and those with limited English) across Greater London. We've steadily built up a website with a directory of information about online safety. For our audience, especially the more vulnerable members, this is not enough.
We need to reach people "where they are", which means that we need a social media presence. There has simply not been enough time to deal with this in the past. We are now recruiting volunteers to help us choose a social media platform, launch our account, and keep it going.
Duties
Stay informed on current online safety issues that could affect our target audience in Greater London. Condense the information to social media messages and visuals that will help our audience to make good decisions for themselves and those that they care for. Share ideas with others in the team to maintain the quality of our output.
Training
We'll give you an induction session covering ideas, technology, politics and law that determine how consumer technology and online risks evolve. We'll also help you to understand and work within our policy for online posts. The GoSafer.Online site will also provide you information about online safety. If there's something you'd like to know about that you can't find on the site, we'll research it and add it to the content on the site.
There may be peaks and troughs of activity during the planning and launch phase. After that, the work is likely to be steady. We need a buffer of pre-prepared posts that will tide us over during holidays and other periods when contributors are not available, so each week we'll need our contributor team to produce a required number of approved posts, after which no further work will be needed until the following week.
