Our Social Clubs are free activities which take place both face-to-face and remotely, and bring older (65+) and younger people from across Camden and Islington together for fun, laughter, friendship and new experiences.
Our Social Clubs take place in different venues such as pubs, cafes, galleries, community centres and community gardens which change every month. Our clubs are about busting stereotypes that surround older and younger people: From cooking workshops to Hula Hooping and Congolese dance workshops to conversations about space exploration! We are always open to new ideas, new venues and new people, so if you’ve got an idea for a club you can come host your very own with Andy and Hannah, our social club coordinators. Everyone’s got something to share and we all have more to learn from each other. Check out Andy's blog about our older and younger pals attempt to break a Guiness World Record in Kentish Town.
Alongside our face-to-face clubs we host fortnightly virtual clubs over Zoom and chatty phone clubs. These are great for volunteers and older neighbours alike who aren’t able to come along to our in-person get togethers. We also have our chatty telephone Social Clubs which mean neighbours in our network without digital access can take part too. Anyone can phone in and become part of our phone family – you’ll get to hear Tony and Harvey’s singalongs and plenty of stellar stories all from the comfort of your sofa.
Time commitment
For our in-person events, our main priority is keeping our network of neighbours safe. We'll have masks and sanitiser available at every activity - we advise all neighbours to do what they are comfortable with and we ask everyone to respect this.
