Renaissance Foundation is a Greater London-based youth charity that works with young people with long-term health conditions, and young carers. There is a general under-representation in population census and London boroughs’ population data about young people undertaking caring responsibilities. This led to under-recognition, thus funding and support provided to these young “hidden” carers, particularly affecting those from less privileged backgrounds. Renaissance Foundation runs workshops at schools and community centres, trying to raise awareness, identify barriers, and provide signposting and support.
Renaissance Foundation is seeking volunteers to help systemically characterise the unmet needs of young “hidden” carers. This project aims to design a qualitative research method, such as a questionnaire, to provide insights on, but not limited to, number of young carers, demographics (e.g. ethnicity, disability, and socioeconomic status), needs, and barriers to support.
- Research on most appropriate qualitative research method(s), and analysis strategies, that help address the need
- Design outlines and templates of said method(s)
- Review accordingly in terms of length, appropriateness in terms of age, of users/ targeted responders with Renaissance Foundation
