Description

Regents Park Time Bank (RPTB) is a grassroots charity based in Regents Park Ward in Camden. They run a variety of activities to support vulnerable families in the area and promote a more inclusive community. They run holiday projects for 0–12-year-old children and are also looking to start term-time projects. A new project they have started is focused on storytelling and promoting enthusiasm for learning among children. They are celebrating their 20 years this year and hope to create an impact report with case studies.

Research volunteers will support interviews, focus groups and write case studies of families and children for the impact report. The ultimate goal is to complete it by September in time for a funding application in October – as part of this role you will collect and compile data to support the report; you are not obliged to stay on to produce the whole report but are welcome to do so if you wish.

The qualitative component is the most important part for RPTB, but they also have quantitative data from a Plinth database which hundreds of charities use in Camden. They are struggling to make sense of and visualise the data, so this quantitative part of the project is also available to interested students.

The charity runs multiple events that you are welcome to join throughout summer. In-person interviews and activities are encouraged, but other work (e.g. writing, transcribing) can be completed flexibly online.

Duties
  • Conduct in-person interviews (and/or focus groups) with families involved in the charity to capture their stories and impact of the charity
  • Write case studies based on interviews and/or focus groups
  • Support on the creation of an impact report
  • Attend activities where necessary (e.g. open evening for new families)
  • If interested, work with quantitative data on Plinth database – includes attendance, demographics data.
Who will the volunteers be working with?
Directly with Tony Bloor and other staff members, volunteers, and families.
