Description

Volunteer with FCCHS

The Friends of Chelsea Community Hospital School (Charity No 1060218) helps raise crucial funds to help develop and extend its vital work throughout the school year. We urgently need volunteers to assist with our fundraising/marketing activities and to help with our weekly, Tuesday (9.30 am - 2.00 pm), table-top sale. If you can spare 2-3 hours on a regular basis for 3 months it would make a big difference to the quality of life for chronically ill children in hospital.

Duties
  • Helping to run and setup our weekly table-top / pop-up shop at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
  • Supporting the Marketing and Communications Manager with fundraising projects, campaigns & business development opportunities
  • Raising local and national awareness of the charity via its social media channels
  • Contacting and developing local and national businesses links to help develop mutually beneficial opportunities
  • Distributing promotional materials to London wide businesses to help raise awareness of the charity/ hospital school

NB. If you have particular skills and experience in the charity sector, or in business / marketing, then we can look at additional opportunities that utilise those skills.

Who will the volunteers be working with?
All volunteers will be working with hospital school staff and FCCHS Trustees whilst under the supervision of the hospital's volunteering department.
Training
As a volunteer, you will develop an understanding of working in a hospital environment and have the opportunity to communicate directly with staff, patients and families. The experience of team working with other school staff and volunteers will provide a rewarding and positive experience for you and the patient. You will develop an awareness of face-to-face and online fundraising skills and methods and meet new people. You will also have access to a variety of in-placement training with subject matter experts, as well as awards and recognition.
You will receive a core volunteering induction and an online induction and orientation.
This will include any training that is relevant to perform your tasks.

Time commitment

Volunteering ‘shifts’ of 2-3 hours are available on Tuesday, for the table-top charity stall, from 9.30 am to 2.30 pm.
Other volunteering shifts of 2-3 hours are available to help support the school charity with its marketing and fundraising efforts (Monday - Friday 9.30am - 5 pm).

Volunteers are expected to commit to at least one regular shift of 2 - 3 hours per week for a period of not less than 3 months but a longer commitment is always most welcome.

This organisation is one of our community partner organisations.

Like all volunteer recruiters we work with, they have signed up to our service standards, agreeing to abide by our policy on partnership working to keep you safe and supported whilst you volunteer.
