The Royal Institution is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver interactive science events throughout the year. As a volunteer, your role would be to demonstrate experiments to young people and their families at our Family Fun Days. This could be anything from extracting DNA from strawberries to demonstrating hydrogen rockets to making balloon powered cars!  

Family Fun Days are one day events running 10am - 5pm on Saturdays and no regular commitment is required. Volunteer for a brilliant opportunity get experience in science communication, presenting, explaining and demonstrating science in an informal educational setting! 

Time commitment

Saturdays, 10am - 5pm.

We are expecting to do between 2 and 5 Family Fun Days in the coming year (Sep 22 - Aug 23). Dates are TBC.
What measures have you put in place to ensure volunteers’ safety during COVID-19?
We are following the government guidelines and asking people to not come to the Ri if they are displaying symptoms or have a positive test.
We have large rooms with good ventilation.
Masks can be worn if the volunteer would like to.
Hand sanitiser at every station.
