Want to support Tiffin Walli with finding exciting new opportuntities for partnerships across the voluntary sector? Join the Identification of East-London based female focused charities project
All about the organisation
At TiffinWalli, we provide talented and determined women with opportunities to change their lives through Cuisine and Culinary. Most women are already great cooks; we train them further to master their cooking skills, learn new recipes, and potentially launch their own food business. TiffinWalli women learn different cuisines to continually expand the menu we offer our customers.
A bit about the project
There are many services across East London to support vulnerable women through different means, e.g. language, domestic violence, financial support etc, but there is currently no communication or collaboration between services. This project aims to identify the potential for a network between such services across the Boroughs Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham forest, Barking and Dagenham and Newham. Once potential has been identified, a process to begin forming a network can begin which will improve the lives of the women by enabling cross collaboration of multiple services and increasing awareness of services. The students undertaking the projects will learn: how to gather information via databases and other online resources, how to organise and manage data, cross section communication skills, teamworking skills, creative thinking and problem-solving skills. There may be an opportunity to extend this project further.
What can I expect from this project?
The main task is compiling a list of non-profit/ impact driven organisations operating in the areas mentioned above. The list should contain the name of the organisation, its primary aim and target audience, location and contact information. The researcher could begin by using the Government Charity Register to identify appropriate organisations and compile the list with the requested information in Excel.
The secondary aim is to identify the organisations that are interested in the collaboration envisioned by the client. To achieve this, the researcher and the client would compile a message that would be sent out to the identified organisations. Note that some organisations lack an online presence but are otherwise active.
What tasks will I take on?
- Map the Local Support Landscape
- Search for charities, community groups, and impact‑driven organisations across Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest, Barking & Dagenham, and Newham.
- Use tools like the Government Charity Register and other online databases to identify organisations supporting vulnerable women.
- Build a clear, well‑organised Excel list including each organisation’s mission, target audience, location, and contact details.
- Spot patterns and gaps in provision to help TiffinWalli understand the wider ecosystem.
- Analyse Opportunities for Collaboration
- Review your list to identify organisations whose work aligns with TiffinWalli’s mission of empowering women through culinary skills.
- Think creatively about how different services—language support, domestic violence services, financial advice, community hubs—could connect with TiffinWalli.
- Highlight the most promising partnership opportunities and why they matter.
- Craft Outreach Materials and Messaging
- Work with the TiffinWalli team to draft a friendly, compelling message to send to potential partners.
- Tailor the tone so it feels warm, collaborative, and aligned with the charity’s values.
- Help plan how to reach organisations that may not have a strong online presence but are active locally.
- Support Early Network‑Building
- Track responses and interest from organisations you contact.
- Help TiffinWalli begin shaping the foundations of a cross‑borough network.
- Suggest next steps for relationship‑building, events, or follow‑up conversations.
