GoSafer.Online's goal is to inform people about online risks, ranging from hacks and scams to grooming, radicalisation, and the psychological effects of AI chatbots. We are especially interested in vulnerable individuals, such as the young, the old, and those with limited English. We often reach them through intermediaries such as teachers, parents and carers, and voluntary groups. Our work is supported by a web site and we are planning a social media launch.
There's a continuing need for graphics elements on the site and for all of the other material we create for our public education campaign.
Since we operate in the field of online safety, we're well aware of the negative effects of artificial intelligence. We were called out by some of our UCL volunteers for having AI images on our site, most of which we've now removed. Given that we're not going to use AI for new images, we'll have a continuing need for someone to create them for us.
You'll help us to develop an aesthetic for the graphics on our site, and on printed material and other educational and marketing assets. The style need to be cheap to create since our volunteer resources are limited.
Negative perceptions of finely detailed "uncanny valley" AI images may allow room for a naïve approach (children's drawings perhaps) to work well.
The ongoing task is to find images that deliver a message, or amplify a text.
