Our 'Learn to...' programme is a four to six-week block of activities, where you learn new skills, with the same group of people. This programme is beginner friendly and lead by a qualified instructor.

- Learn to... Boulder for Beginners
- Join us for Learn to... Boulder for Beginners , six week programme at Rise Climbing
Description: Learn to Boulder is a 6-week instructed climbing course. Each week there will be a 1-hour lesson, where we explore fundamental climbing techniques. The course will specifically focus on bouldering, which is one of the core climbing disciplines. Indoor bouldering is where we climb up to 4.5m high over foam boulder mats. The course is suitable for both new climbers and existing climbers who boulder at the V0 - V2 grade. Boulder safety and fall practice will be covered as part of the first lesson, so you do not need any previous climbing experience to join the course. The aim of the course is to create a solid base of climbing techniques so participants can continue to improve once the course has finished.

Description: Develop your skills and learn the basics to perform a handstand in our Learn to... Handstand programme. The session will be open to beginners, and include guided workouts as well as technique work. This is a great place to start if you are looking at exploring Calisthenics

Description: Over the 6-week programme, we will build a foundation for your strength training journey by covering all of the main free weight exercises, focussing on safe technique. Starting from warming up and setting up the rack for squats or the barbell for a hip thrust, we will continue to build onto your lifting skills with exercises such as deadlifts, Bulgarian split squats, bench press, and shoulder press to name a few, using both barbells and dumbbells. The goal is to support you in feeling strong and confident doing your own lifting sessions in the future, and maybe even taking up a strength sport like powerlifting!

- Join us for Learn to... Muay Thai (Women Only) , four week programme at TeamUCL Gym.
Description This four-week course will provide a safe, supportive space to learn the foundations of Muay Thai. Over the sessions, you will learn the essential building blocks of 'The Art of Eight Limbs', starting with the basic stance and footwork. You will progressively learn the core strikes (punches, kicks, knees and elbows) and how to execute these with proper forms in padwork and partner drills. The course will cover these techniques into basic combinations and incorporate essential defense work into these. You will also be introduced to the clinch, which is a unique aspect of Muay Thai and differentiates it from other combat sports like kickboxing. By the end of the course, you will have the confidence to perform a variety of techniques, understand how to combine attack and defence and possess a foundational skill set that will allow you to join any general level Muay Thai class!

Description: Krav Maga, meaning 'contact combat', is a self defence system that teaches practical, useful skills that can be used to protect yourself in real life situations straight away 🥋 This four week course doesn't require extensive training or unusual physical skills - techniques are designed so that complete beginners can learn to use the situation and their bodies' natural abilities to keep themselves and others safe. This four-week course will give you a sample of defences against hits, grabs and holds, attacks on the ground, and even against weapons.

- What is the refund policy?
If you have purchased a Learn to... course and can no longer attend, you can apply for a refund up to 7 days before the course starts. Please let us know by email [email protected] as soon as possible.
Refund requests less than 7 days before the start will not qualify for a refund. Tickets are then non-refundable and cannot be transferred.
If a class is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, and you are unable to attend this new rearranged date, you can request a refund for the single class.
- Do I have to attend all sessions?
We highly recommend attending all sessions to make the most out of this activity. For those who complete all four-six sessions, you will receive a Learn to... digital certificate on completion. If you cannot attend all sessions due to unforeseen circumstances please email [email protected] and referred to our Learn to... refund policy.
