Welcome! I'm your Research Students' Officer for 2026/27, a PhD student in the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering. I also work as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant, so I know research life at UCL from a few different angles.
I'm passionate about building a lively, engaging and supportive community for research students within the Union. My role involves advocating for your needs and interests, working closely with the Postgraduate Officer, and representing your voice to UCL and beyond.
The UCL Research Students' Network represents postgraduate research students on MPhil, PhD and professional doctorate programmes across every discipline. Our mission is to foster a vibrant and inclusive research community by offering a platform for connection, collaboration and support. Throughout the year, we'll be running events and activities that bring together research students from across UCL, helping you build meaningful relationships and get more out of your time here.

Who can join the Research Students' Network?
Anyone on a research programme at UCL: MPhil, PhD, EngD, professional doctorates, and research masters. Membership is free.How do I join the Network committee?
The Network committee has five roles: Secretary, Social Secretary, Welfare Officer, Treasurer, and Campaigns Representative. Full details and how to nominate yourself are on the Rep Elections page. You don't need previous experience, and the time commitment is manageable alongside research.When are events held?
We know research students have unpredictable schedules, so we vary the timing and format. Past events have included lunchtime socials designed to be easy to drop into between lab or writing sessions. Upcoming events will be announced on our Instagram @ucl_rsn, in our WhatsApp group, and on the Students' Union What's On calendar.What is the Doctoral School and how is it different from you?
The Doctoral School is UCL's central body for research students, running training, the Research Student Log, and doctoral events. I'm on the Students' Union side, which is independent of UCL. I meet regularly with the Doctoral School to raise things research students tell me.
