Join the UCL Chaplain and Interfaith Adviser in attending the Community Iftar hosted by our Islamic Society.
Each day a Ramadan Iftar (fast-breaking) takes place at UCL and everyone is always welcome to attend. This evening has a special emphasis on hospitality and understanding for anyone who is not a Muslim and wants to attend the Iftar. It is a great opportunity to meet new people, make friends, and learn why Ramadan is so important to some of our community.
Who?
This trip is open to anyone interested in learning more about Islam. People from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome to attend. All levels of understanding and knowledge are welcome, but it is especially suitable if you have a limited understanding of Islamic beliefs, practices, and identity. It is a great opportunity to discover first hand the deep significance of Ramadan.
Why?
- Strengthen good relations by increasing understanding of different faiths.
- Increase awareness of a distinct faith community in the UK.
Schedule for the evening:
- 18:00-18.15 - Meet the Chaplain on floor B2 of the Student Centre.
- 18:30 - Opportunity to observe Maghrib prayers.
- Around 18:40 - Walk over to the south quad pop up for iftar. It is a relaxed and informal time to meet and speak with people while sharing a meal.
- Meal finishes around 19:30, but you are always welcome to continue your conversations for longer!
