We organise free bike maintenance sessions, security bike checks and second-hand bike sales in the main quad throughout the year. VENUE CHANGE: The Bike Bonanzas for the remainder of 2024/25 academic year will take place on the IOE Level 4 concourse.

Throughout the academic year we host our Bike Bonanzas - regular events where you can purchase, repair, and protect your bike, to help you travel to campus and around London sustainably.

Dr Bike: Free Bike Maintenance (Booking Required

At Dr Bike sessions experienced cyclists and mechanics check everything on your bike from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more. Minor adjustments to the bike are made there and then. If it can't be fixed on site, or the mechanics believe that your bike will still be unsafe if they provide minor fixes, mechanics will let you know exactly what needs doing and a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop.

The mechanics of an e-bike will be looked at, but the issues linked to batteries and electronics will not be fixed.

Dr Bike is part-funded by the London Borough of Camden. Camden offers free cycle instruction for all levels of cyclists. For information please visit Camden Council's cycling web pages:

Cycle skills and bike maintenance courses - Camden Council.

If you would like to have your bike looked at by the Dr Bike mechanics please book your slot on this Eventbrite page. The mechanics will be on site from 10am-2pm and will only have time to look at up to 20 bikes on one session.

Please book your bike in for a service by the Dr Bike mechanics by registering on Eventbrite. Mechanics will not be able to service your bike if you do not have a pre-booked slot. Please check the Eventbrite page on the day for any cancellations, as sometimes slots become available. On the day of each event, booking will open for the next event.

Bike Sale

Bikes for Good Causes will be selling bikes and accessories such as helmets and locks. Bikes will be reasonably priced as they are second-hand.

Bikes for Good Causes are a social enterprise located in Haringey that sells good quality, donated bikes and also provides a full bicycle repair and maintenance service. They are working in partnership with Action For Kids Charitable Trust which supports young people with learning disabilities. Any profit made goes back into the business to improve the range of services offered in their bike and coffee shop, and also helps support Action For Kids in the excellent work they do in assisting young people to “lead the life they choose”.

Bike Marking

In partnership with the Metropolitan Police, UCL Security regularly set up marking events to provide cycle security advice and offer security marking and registration onto BikeRegister's online database. Registering your bike helps police and retailers identify and verify the legitimate owner of bikes that have been stolen or are being resold.

Climate Hackathon
Thursday 5 June 2025 - Friday 6 June 2025, All day
What's a Climate Hack?We have taken our Social Hackathon model and focused it specifically on the climate, ahead of the Sustainability Leadership conference, running 9-11 June. We anticipate participants will produce a Climate Action Plan or similar such output, keeping this activity focused on action and making change and not simply knowledge-generation. It's very different to writing an essay - and much more like real life. Working with and for a non-profit organisation in the sector, this 2-day activity provides students with a super practical activity related to topics to be covered at the conference. A problem, or challenge, is provided by the organisation that 20 bright young and
