Come join us for a talk with the founder and CEO of the Against Malaria Foundation (AMF), Rob Mather, for his first ever nationwide Raise talk!
Rob founded AMF in 2004. Over the past 20 years, the AMF has raised over US$745 million from more than a million donations, funding bed nets that have protected more than 608 million people - a truly stunning achievement. The impact of these nets is modelled by others to be 255,000 deaths prevented, 255 million cases of malaria averted and US$8.9bn of economic improvement, largely on the continent of Africa. Rob points out that Raise has played its part too and in spectacular fashion - £512,000 raised in the past 7 years, 340,000 nets funded and 610,000 people protected when they sleep at night, including £5,321.50 raised from the UCL chapter last year.
We now have the opportunity to ask him about AMF’s journey - how and why they are consistently ranked as one of the world’s most effective charities by GiveWell (and frankly all impact focused evaluators), what their major challenges have been, and what the next two decades might bring for AMF.
Join the London Raise chapters (UCL and LSE), to watch Rob’s talk via satellite, and for an opportunity to discuss the talk with others around you afterwards, hopefully over food and drinks. Please note that you will not be able to join via Zoom!
