- Hosted by Dementia Research Society
The UCL Dementia Research Society, in collaboration with the Biology Society, is delighted to host a talk by Dr Damian Cummings.
đź“… Date: 17 March
⏰ Time: 5:00–6:00 PM
📍 Location: 433 Torrington Place (1–19)
Dr Cummings gained his BSc (Honours) in Physiology from UCL in 2000 before moving to The Open University, where he completed his PhD in Dr Kerry Murphy’s lab, studying synaptic transmission in models of Huntington’s disease. He continued his research in Huntington’s disease in California, working in Professor Michael Levine’s lab at UCLA.
Returning to UCL in 2009, he joined Professor Frances Edwards and shifted his focus toward Alzheimer’s disease, continuing his broader work in neurodegeneration.
The central theme of Dr Cummings’ career has been understanding the cellular mechanisms underlying learning and memory in healthy ageing and neurodegeneration. His work combines multiple in vitro electrophysiological techniques to investigate neuronal function, alongside advanced microscopic imaging and behavioural and cognitive analyses.
We look forward to seeing you there!
