- Hosted by Dementia Research Society
The Dementia Research Society, in collaboration with the Biochemical Society, is delighted to host a talk by Dr Eva Ioannidou.
π
Date: 11 March
β° Time: 5:00β6:00 PM
π Location: 1.02 Malet Place Engineering Building
Dr Eva Ioannidou is a doctoral researcher at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, supervised by Professor Helen Cross and Professor Thomas Jacques. Her work sits at the interface of paediatric neurology, neuroinflammation, and molecular neuroscience.
Her research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of Rasmussen Encephalitis through multimodal molecular analyses. By integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data with clinical and histopathological findings, she aims to identify biomarkers and uncover potential therapeutic targets for this rare and devastating condition.
In this talk, Dr Ioannidou will reflect on how choosing the right research question can shape a scientific career β and how rare diseases offer unique opportunities for discovery, impact, and innovation.
This session will be particularly valuable for students interested in translational neuroscience, rare disease research, and building a purposeful research trajectory.
We look forward to seeing all of you there!
