The Romanian and Eastern European Hub is a service designed to support the Romanian community both in London and more widely across the UK. We are looking for Romanian speakers who could volunteer for 4 hours per week.
With our staff and volunteers, we offer support in Romanian to those needing help due to language, digital, and cultural barriers.
The Hub supports service users in many ways, but mainly we support them with: accessing health services (GP registration and appointment booking), English class referrals, food bank referrals, school registration, Consulate appointments, domestic violence support, Universal Credit and housing applications. We work in close partnership with solicitor practices and services that offer support with benefits, settlement schemes and employment applications, by referring cases to them and supporting with interpreting if needed.
The benefits of volunteering are numerous, and the Hub is committed to helping volunteers develop their skills and abilities. As such, volunteers can benefit through:
- Supporting members of the local community and helping to have a positive impact.
- Gaining organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The potential for training to gain qualifications and new skills.
- Gaining valuable experience to add to CVs and job applications.
- Meet new people and gain confidence – the Hub is a supportive and welcoming environment for everyone!
- Practice and develop your social skills.
