If elected to the roll, i would love to help make Ramsay Hall an inclusive place for all to enjoy themselves. I have goals to make Ramsay a safe haven for all residents looking to de-stress from uni work and find life long friends with various events for all such as themed nights for residents as well as other events through the week that do not include drinking ensuring access for all religions and preferences, with events such as topical quizzes, karaoke as well as open mic-music nights. Allowing for all to come and have fun, find friends and be truly comfortable at Ramsay hall.
As hall representative I would have many qualities and skills to bring to this roll. At my previous place of education I was house captain of my boarding house, giving me an insight of managing students away from home and the various challenges they may face. As a keen student I was also president of the politics society once again showing me how to plan and structure events for large groups. My character is said to be that of a social and understanding nature who is always willing to get to know people and chat allowing for me to be a friendly face in the halls.
I stand for a strong sense of community. I love brining people together through various events, allowing for the forming of new relationships, a crucial part of the UCL experience. I stand as a strong member of the community who is looking to do good with the use of group action. Brining groups together over shared enjoyment, such as quizzes and music, to help a community bond. Through these communities there is also the opportunity to help local causes such as homelessness, with the use of charity donation buckets, helping to make Ramsay a more inclusive and healthier place.
Represent the best way possible Ramsay Hall and Ian baker house !
Listening to my hallmates and make their dream real.
I am a sensitive man who know how to listen and interact socialy. I bring joy and enthousiasm everywhere i go and i want to represent Ramsay Hall and Ian baker house this way, by making people smile.
Why should they not vote for me ?
Given the opportunity to be the Rep, I would first and foremost work on restoring our halls’ reputation as the social hall, and not the one with clogged toilets.More formally, I wish to ensure that the next year is comfortable and enjoyable for everyone involved. It should serve to be a memorable experience that facilitates the transition from high school to college and makes everyone feel at home. My priorities include:
- more convenient breakfast timings (and the promised waffle maker)
- better facilities in the common room
- anonymous system to complain about noise, littering, theft etc.
I believe that the most important part that makes me suitable for this post is, in fact, being a resident and a fresher myself. This enables me to better empathise with the issues at hand and view them from a student’s perspective. I will aim to be an approachable and open representative, one that is considerate of each and everyone’s opinion and well being.
Through other positions I’ve held ( MUN director general, sports team captain, and academic coordinator), I am well able to communicate with people, initiate action, and balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
As someone who has successfully pitched a petting zoo to the school authorities, I believe that I will be able to bring about actual action and change.
I will dedicate my time to making Ramsay and Ian Baker a place which caters to all students, from those who want more parties to those who require more quiet for studying.
As someone who loves interacting with people, I will personally ensure that every resident at the halls feels welcomed and heard.
I’m passionate about making people feel comfortable in their surroundings and making sure that I leave a room in a better state than when I left it. Because of that, I’ll make sure I listen to people when they have complaints and take them seriously. Everyone likes clean bathrooms, that’s why I’ll talk to cleaning staff about the state of toilets on all the floors. Most people like clean clothes, so I’ll talk to maintenance about fixing any of the broken laundry machines. Most importantly, people at Ramsay should be able to be themselves, so I want to make space for people to do that.
I am
- legally certified to drive
- an early riser (6:30 a.m)
- Handsome (not legally certified yet)
- Stylish (with help)
- nice to a mediocre level
experience: Was Head of House for 100+ boys (16-18), have worked as overseer in a Toys-R-us. R&D with government water companies so I know a good deal when I see one.
Lesser known talents include juggling (up to 5 objects), vortexing, fast-walking, slow-running, fast-running, cooking. I’m very passionate about sport, so I’ll help athletes work out timetables. I also know my times tables up to 16, which might be helpful on trivia nights.
Ramsay may not be the cleanest. It might not be clean even. But we all need to use it. Ramsay is where we live… even if some of you don’t want to accept it. They say Ramsay’s shit, that it smells like shit… probably because there is some (*London*). But it doesn’t have to be that way; we can live and love Ramsay without having to ignore the bad parts. When I’m Hall Rep, I’ll make Ramsay a place you can live in just as well as your own home. I’m a student, like everyone else; that makes your interests my interests.
Vote for yourself, vote Santi.
Dealing with 500+ students, requests can get overwhelming. As Hall rep, one of the first things to do is make a new system or enhance the old one so everyone’s requests gets assessed in a timely manner. An enquiry box for questions regarding our accommodation life would be created for students living in the hall and potential newcomers next year. Lastly, I’d build better connections between Ramsay Hall and Ian Baker House. We’re still apart despite the common spaces we share. By adding more weekly activities/nights together (e.g) we can build closer ties as halls and with external halls too.
As a rep I would convey any issues that the students face in regards of their accommodation and push for those issues to be solved. I humbly believe that I’m a good listener and a skilled debater able to achieve even the hardest of tasks. I work well with other people, thus my collaboration with the Hall’s administration would be successful and smooth. I’m open to hearing new ideas and I’m always in for some good problem solving & accessibility for all. Communication is my forte, so both administrators and students won’t be disappointed (speaking 3 languages also helps in that spectrum)
You probably don’t know me and I might not know you. But know this, as a fellow student and someone who has struggled this year with settling in Halls, I know what you’re probably dealing with and it would make me more than happy to help you. You don’t have to like me, you just have to trust me. And trust in the fact that whatever you’re struggling with I’ll be here to help you in whatever way I can. And even if you’re not struggling and just have a fun idea for the Hall, it’s be my pleasure to hear it and be your voice so that it’s implemented. Students know what’s best for fellow students :)
