Hinna Mohamed

Hi, I’m Hinna Mohamed and I’m running for Treasurer of the Somali Society.

Being part of this society genuinely matters to me. I want us to have a space that feels organised, supportive and well run, where we can host events we’re proud of and build a strong sense of community. For that to happen, our finances need to be managed carefully and consistently.

If elected, I will focus on securing funding and ensuring it is used wisely. I will create clear budgets before events, track spending properly and make sure financial decisions are handled responsibly and transparently. I want us to be ambitious in what we organise, while also staying financially secure.

Through my studies, including modules in management and data analysis, I have developed organisational skills and confidence working with information accurately. Combined with my Maths background, I am comfortable handling figures and paying close attention to detail. I am reliable and take responsibility seriously.

If elected, I am ready to put in steady work behind the scenes to help the society grow and succeed.

Kawthar Haramein

Asalaamu alaykum all!

I'm Kawthar, a 2nd year maths student (currently the only somali in my year... ) and I'd love to run for Treasurer of the Somali Society! It's a generous community that has raised almost 30k in just 1 month for hospitals back home, Allahuma barik, and host plenty of exciting events with beautiful people - it'd be an honour to be an integral part of it. As a maths student & tutor at my old sixth form, I also do take pride in giving back to my community, I'm comfortable with numbers, organised and responsible, so be sure your finances will be in safe hands insha'Allah. :)
