Benjy Thornton

Hi, I’m Benjy and I’m running to be treasurer of UCL Snowsports. I am a passionate skier who last year spend the winter season in the French alps in Chamonix. Having previously completed work experience in the accountancy department for a company valued over £250m, I am well practiced at budgeting, cash management, and financial tracking, and hope to use these skills to help our club.

On top of this, a one-month remote internship with a London based hedge fund trained and developed my abilities with financial analysis and responsible investment decision making. Should I become the future treasurer, I look forward to finding more ways to increase our budget so we can afford to invest in new kit, have bigger socials and ski trips, maybe even picking up some sponsors on the way.

Thanks for your time and consideration!!

Charlotte Weber

Snowsports has been more than just a society to me; it’s my friends, my sport, and a core part of my time at UCL. And I would love to help the society flourish by being treasurer.

This year I’ve had the chance to learn directly from Selin about what the role actually involves. She’s shown me how payments are processed, how to work with the SU, and how much organisation goes into keeping everything running behind the scenes. As Social Sec I’ve had to deal with finances in smaller ways, whether that’s helping to organise Curry Night, buying drinks for club, or let’s not forget the 50 Jägerbombs we bought on trip. I have previous experience as I was Treasurer for my school’s sports, which has given me a solid foundation when it comes to managing finances responsibly.

My aim as Treasurer would be to make sure the society is financially secure throughout the year while also making sure we have what we need for things to run smoothly, whether that’s buses for trips, equipment for the captains, or making sure memberships remain affordable and good value for everyone who wants to get involved.

All in all, I’m an organised, proactive and engaged member of the society who would make sure we secure the funding we need (even if that means I have to be a bit of a monster about it). With this being my third year in Snowsports, and having learned from two Treasurers, both of whom I’m still in contact with, I feel well prepared for the role.

Molly Taylor

Hey everyone, I’m Molly!

I’m running for Treasurer because I want UCL Snowsports to run at a higher standard behind the scenes as well as on the slopes. I’ve already done the job as Treasurer (24/25) and I know what it takes day-to-day: budgeting, reimbursements, purchases, chasing payments, and keeping us compliant with SU procedures so things do not get delayed or rejected.

I come with proof, not potential: in my Treasurer year, the club went from a starting balance of £9.5k (Sept 2024) to £24k (May 2025), a net increase of about £13.5k, while still delivering a full and high-quality events calendar. We brought in £51.5k of new income and I managed £37k of spending across facility hire, transport, competition entry and misc. I also kept a tight handle on major costs like coaches (£8.6k), including pushing spare seat sales to other unis.

My aims:

• Clear budgets and transparent spending decisions

• Fast, accurate reimbursements and smooth SU paperwork

• Structured memberships ensuring value for money and transparency on what members can access at each level

• Firm but fair payment regulation so nobody is out of pocket - club, committee, or member

• Better value through smart partnerships and free perks (stash, raffles, drinks support)

• A supportive approach to money concerns, with structured flexibility and signposting the SU Participation Fund

I've shown that I'm a Treasurer who is organised, proactive, and experienced when things get stressful.

Piste and love,

Molly xoxo

Bella Eales

Hey everyone!! I'm Bella and I would love to be the next UCL snowsports treasurer.

Since my first day at UCL, snowsports Wednesdays have been the highlight of my week. From dressing up as a Scottish flag to participating in boat races, I have loved being part of such a welcoming and lively community. This is just one reason why I would love to contribute to it in some way.

I believe I can bring a positive contribution to this role because I am friendly, driven and really love snowsports. Coming from a STEM background has given me the numerical and organizational skills I need to be the best treasurer possible. If I was chosen I would aim to balance the budget so that we can keep being boozy on slopes across the country and around the world 🐙

Thank you very much and I would be so grateful for your vote :)
