Emma Huhtala

Hi! My name is Emma, and I’m running for the role of Treasurer next year.

Pi Media is one of UCL's most important societies, and I would love to be a part of the committee. As Treasurer, I would manage our finances efficiently, making use of our resources so each member's experience is as enjoyable as possible. I would ensure various opportunities are made available to our writers. Organising fundraising events, seeking alumni donations, and communicating with the Student Union would be a priority whenever necessary. I would also keep a detailed, organised budget.

In addition to fulfilling all responsibilities laid out in the Club and Society Regulations, I would work to:

  • Maintain detailed, transparent financial records to document each transaction and make them visible to members
  • Form a fundraising committee if needed
  • Find funds needed to organise a Pi ball if possible
  • Find funds to organise Pi awards and other events that members would find enjoyable
  • Invest in materials needed for Pi's various divisions including PiTV by budgeting as needed
  • Maintain a steady income to fulfil Pi's needs by various methods including seeking advertisements if necessary

I am confident that I have the mathematical and organisational skills necessary to meet Pi's needs. As a writer for Pi, I have been able to become a more active member of the UCL community and develop my writing skills, and I would love to contribute to the committee in return. I hope to have the chance to represent Pi, and thank you!

Aliya Yang

So so keen to get more involved in Pi this year having absolutely loved writing for the website this year! Have learnt so much from the current editors and leadership team and am always eager to continue to get involved and keep working in student media :)
