Amy Joseph

I’m standing for Creative Director because I want to help make the magazine look as exciting as everyone’s amazing articles are! Having drawn pieces for Kinesis before and loving being part of it, I would be really excited to take that further in this position and bring your ideas to life on the page.

PS— in lieu of a traditional headshot, I present: watercolour leatherback turtle (it’s more photogenic than I am anyway) 🌊

Meera Maniar

Hello everyone! Being a Creative Director this year was a transformative and truly enjoyable experience, and I would love to continue contributing to this amazing magazine next year as well. This year, I’ve typesetted a good number of articles for the 15th and UCL’s 200-year special issues and created more artworks than I can count. Being the social secretary for Biology Society and the Editor-In-Chief for the Biology departmental newsletter, I really honed my science communication and collaborative skills. Plus, as one of the current creative directors that isn’t graduating, I'm going to be someone who’s already gone through the learning curve and I'm glad to teach the new typesetters!

If elected again, I would love to:

🖌️Expand the types of artwork featured into collages and photography, along with some chalk drawing media as well.

🎨Host more art-related events. As a first year, I truly enjoyed participating in the leaf printing socials, the drawing classes, and I believe these are great ways of introducing new illustrators into our society.

💡Keep some of our current ideas that worked great for us! Holding short meetings with other directors and editors before issue rollout, and evolving Kinesis’ current colour palette.

This society is the perfect mixture of my biological sciences degree and my art hobby, and I would be honoured to continue developing my skills in the magazine. Thank you for considering me for this position😊
