My name is Chentao (Tony) Zhao and I am running for Welfare Officer for the 2026–2027 academic year. I am a third-year student in Engineering and Architectural Design and currently serve as Head of the Publicity Department of UCLCSSA. I was also one of the main coordinators of the 2025–2026 Pre-departure Briefing, the main organizer of the cross-university photography project “Wandering Camera 3.0”, and the creator of the UCLCSSA mascot “Guoran Monkey 2.0”.
As Welfare Officer, I aim to improve the Student Welfare system by strengthening response mechanisms, expanding wellbeing support, and raising safety awareness among students.
First, I will introduce a level-based response system to handle daily matters, urgent incidents, and major emergencies more efficiently, ensuring students receive timely help and clear guidance.
Second, I will work with UCL wellbeing resources, student societies and society organizations to expand mental health support, including stress-management workshops, wellbeing activities, and anonymous support channels such as the “Winter Mailbox”.
Third, I will promote safety awareness initiatives, sharing practical guidance on fraud prevention, personal safety, emergency procedures, and medical assistance etc.
My goal is to build a Student Welfare Office that is supportive in everyday life and dependable in critical moments, so every Chinese student at UCL feels safe, supported, and heard.
Thank you for your trust and support!
