Hi everyone, I'm Talia, a First Year Biomedical Sciences Student! I'm running for Academic Representative because finishing Year 1 made me realise the importance of Life Science Students working together and supporting one another. If elected, I'll strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where our members can thrive.
So, what are my ideas? Here's what I hope to bring to the table:
Organising Internship Panels: Host panels with professionals and alumni to share insights on securing internships in research, healthcare, and industry.
Coordinating Career Talks: Invite experts from diverse fields within Life Sciences to discuss career paths and opportunities.
CV and Interview Workshops: Help students craft standout CVs and prepare for interviews to boost their chances of landing internships, placements, or graduate roles.
Scientific Writing and Publishing Workshops: Teach students how to write research papers, abstracts, and literature reviews to strengthen their academic skills.
Create Study Groups / Exam Prep Workshops: Facilitate peer-led study sessions and workshops to help students tackle challenging modules and prepare for exams effectively.
If you share my vision of working collaboratively to achieve our goals and creating a supportive environment, then please vote for me as your Academic Representative!

As a passionate life sciences student, I want to cultivate a supportive and engaging academic environment within the life sciences society. My goal is to help students feel more confident in their academic journey and future career paths while creating a strong culture of collaboration.
As an academic representative, I plan to arrange academic talks with research and industry professionals to provide members with valuable insights into career paths and emerging fields in life sciences. As well as this, I will work to organise interactive workshops to equip students with the skills they need for a future career in life sciences society, from writing CVs to applying for competitive internships. Lastly, I would like to create social study sessions for difference courses within life sciences to help students collaborate with their peers and engage with their academic learning at the same time in a meaningful way. My strength lies in being able to tackle challenges head-on, and I believe this is essential for making an impact in this role.
I’m excited to contribute and help members develop a deeper passion for life sciences, if you’re passionate about growing in life sciences too and want to be part of a dynamic and supportive academic community, vote for me and let’s make it happen!

My experience as a co-author on a peer-reviewed journal and co-founder of my sixth form’s STEM committee has strengthened my communication and organisational skills. I’m committed to building on what makes LSS great by creating meaningful opportunities for students to connect and grow.
Hey! I'm Xinyi, your current LSS Academic Representative, now running for the 2025-26 committee. Last year, I promised to contribute to the betterment of LSS by engaging you through formal and informal academic initiatives. To this end, so far we've had a massively successful internship panel in collaboration with multiple other STEM societies, as well as a lovely PhDs + Pizzas networking event where life science undergrads connected with postgrads. At time of writing I'm organising two upcoming sharings from UCL professors doing fascinating life science research (check these out on the student union events calendar!), and am planning a refreshing take on journal club meetings.
If you've enjoyed the academic events we've had this academic year, I would be very grateful for your support to serve as your LSS Academic Representative again. I hope to continue working on bringing you impactful initiatives, connecting you with career, networking and research opportunities amongst others. My year of experience in this role will assist me in planning even more exciting events for 2025-26, and I will continue to work with fellow committee members on maintaining the quality and longevity of LSS.
Thank you for considering me as your LSS Academic Representative once again. I am excited to take the society to even greater heights, and I would really appreciate your support!
