Hi, my name is Alexandra and I am a first-year English Literature student running for Workshops Coordinator- and I absolutely adore musical theatre. I find it a uniquely beautiful, sensitive way of enlarging your character and connecting with those of others. Coming to UCL and participating in various MT events, like the Gala and playing Mrs. Maraczek in ‘She Loves Me’, introduced me to an incredibly supportive and passionate community. The opportunities available were unlike any I had seen or had access to. I am interested in the role of Workshops Coordinator precisely for this - I want to help light that ‘spark’; to enable and encourage access to MT education and experience; to allow others to practice their own interests, unlocking opportunities and capabilities that they perhaps did not foresee. My leadership, communication, and organisational abilities have been tested in roles such as simultaneously being an Editor-in-chief, President, and Chair of three school groups, and currently being Lead Undergraduate Rep. for my course, which would support me in taking on this role. I would be particularly focussed on continuing making sure the workshops are an inclusive and exploratory space for creatives to try their hand at various aspects of MT, working on inter-society collaboration and alumni support to help get as many involved as possible. To encourage curiosity, enable joy, and empower opportunity in Musical Theatre as a Workshops Coordinator would be a dream come true.
