Turkish Society

As UCL Turkish Society, we are a vibrant community dedicated to promoting Turkish culture, fostering genuine connections, and enriching the university experience for all students interested in Turkish culture at UCL. Our main goal is to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can feel a sense of belonging. Whether you're Turkish, have Turkish heritage, or simply want to learn more about our culture, you'll find a warm and inclusive space with us.

Throughout the year, our calendar is packed with something for everyone. We host academic and career talks with guest speakers from diplomacy, business, and beyond, giving members a chance to learn and network directly with professionals. We come together to mark important national commemorations, honouring Turkish history and heritage as a community. Our cultural celebrations — from Iftar dinners to festive workshops with other societies — bring people together over food, tradition, and shared reflection.

We also know university life is about more than academics, so we make sure there's plenty of fun too: pub nights, derby day screenings of Turkish football matches, choir performances, joint parties with other societies, and trips to other universities for cultural and academic exchange. Along the way, we've built partnerships with local businesses to offer our members exclusive discounts, and we love collaborating with other Turkish societies and UCL clubs to bring even bigger events to life.

Committee

This year's committee is led by President Emir Deniz Durahim, alongside Vice President Doruk Ersoy, Treasurer Sude Iseri, Media & Communications Officer Neva Anac, Welfare Officer Candas Bilgili, and Events Management Officer Ege Ilik. Together, we're excited to build on last year's success and bring you an even better calendar of events.

Student groups are run by UCL students and facilitated by Students’ Union UCL. The Union is an educational charity and part of how it supports the education of students at UCL is through facilitating a diverse range of opportunities for students to run, join and experience different interests, groups and activities. Each student group decides its own events, activities and views (within our risk management framework).
