Founded in 2012, UCL Diplomacy Society is University College London’s largest international affairs-focused society. We aim to introduce students to careers in diplomacy and inform them about politics, international relations, and current global issues. As a politically unaffiliated society, we strive to provide students with an in-depth understanding of today’s challenges and a wide range of topics and perspectives to reflect upon.
To achieve this, we invite ambassadors, professors, and leaders involved in world politics to participate in unique and engaging conferences and roundtable discussions at UCL. We also organise formal dinners with high-profile guests and embassy visits for selected groups of students.
In 2019, we launched our editorial platform, The Diplomacy Review, which publishes monthly articles and termly journals alongside content on its YouTube channel and podcasts, offering students a variety of ways to engage with international affairs.
UCL Diplomacy Society is also a proud alliance society of the Bentham Brooks Institute, UCL’s first student-led think tank, formed by five of the university’s largest international affairs societies. Its bespoke research programme produces peer-reviewed, high-quality policy papers intended to inform policymakers and other influential figures.
