Congratulations to Tejas Taware, our Rep of the Year
Congratulations to Tejas Taware, who has gone above and beyond in representing students within the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment.
Tejas is a full-time MSc Construction Economics and Management student and is a dedicated Course Representative. As part of their role, Tejas actively participates in the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction PGT Student Partnership Committee, where they advocate for the academic interests of their classmates by ensuring student's voices are heard at the top of the committee.
With 48 individual nominations, Tejas Taware has been widely praised by both students and staff for his exceptional dedication, leadership, and supportive nature.
Tejas Taware said:
Winning this award feels surreal. I honestly just wanted to make sure students felt heard, especially during the chaos of deadlines, timetables, and term-end exams. I’m really grateful for the recognition, and it’s been rewarding to turn shared frustrations and polite complaints into real changes. If this made even one student’s academic life a little less stressful, it was all worth it!
We asked you for your nominations and you delivered. Here's what you had to say about Tejas, and why he's known for making a real difference.

Going above and beyond
Tejas deserves to be our Rep of the Year. He balanced both academic and social well-being for many people. He fought for fair grading, mediated grading disputes, and made sure faculty actually listened to us. And then, he also planned an informal party at Fabric because he knows that a happy, connected student community is just as important.
Student nomination
An exceptional leader
As Tejas’ tutor for one of his modules, I had the opportunity to see his dedication and leadership up close. He consistently brought thoughtful insights to discussions and showed a genuine commitment to improving the student experience, not just for himself, but for the wider cohort. His communication was always clear, respectful, and constructive, whether in class or when raising student concerns. It’s rare to come across a student who balances academic excellence with such strong advocacy for others. Tejas has shown initiative, responsibility, and a collaborative spirit that truly stands out.
Staff nomination
Someone to turn to and trust
I met Tejas at a career event and we ended up chatting about some issues I was facing with module choices and tutor communication. Even though we’re from different courses he gave me super helpful advice and even shared how he handled similar problems in his own department.
Student nomination
Tejas’s has exemplified what it means to be a student leader who is approachable, proactive, and deeply committed to the well-being and success of his peers. He has left a lasting legacy in the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, making him a truly deserving recipient of recognition this year.
