New staff password setup

This will be your password setup process – you’ll need to do it to be able to log in to Outlook, Teams etc.

What you'll need

Ticket reference: your manager should contact Systems (su.systems@ucl.ac.uk) in advance of your start date and recieve a ticket reference by e-mail. 

User ID: you should be assigned a user ID before starting which your manager will know. This is seven letters long, and for Union staff generally starts with uczx - e.g. uczxmka.

Steps to take

  1. ISD are available between 8.30am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
  2. Be at a computer open to https://myaccount.ucl.ac.uk/
  3. Have mobile phone ready to receive text for verification
  4. Call 020 7679 5000
  5. Explain you are a new starter and the Computer Representative has created a ticket to get you set up in MyAccount
  6. Quote the ticket reference
  7. Quote your user ID

You will largely use userID@ucl.ac.uk as the username to log in to UCL services like Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc. So, for example, if your user ID is uczxmka, it would be uczxmka@ucl.ac.uk to log in to Outlook and Teams.

You also have another, friendlier e-mail address (e.g. firstname.lastname@ucl.ac.uk) but will rarely if ever use that to log in to UCL services. As that may not be your preferred name, you can request a different e-mail address as well, I’ll walk you through how.
